KUMAON DIVISION
Kumaon is believed to have been derived from "Kurmanchal", meaning land of the Kurmavatar, i.e the tortoise incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Kumaon or Kumaun is one of the two divisions of state of Uttarakhand India and Kumaon has its own distinct and impressive tradition, festivals, food and culture. Its people are brave, hard working and honest. Headquarter of Kumaon division and the High Court of Uttarakhand is located in Nainital. Kumaon Division consists of six districts.
Almora district is a district in the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, India. The headquarters is at Almora and is 1,638 meters above sea level.
Dotted with lakes, Nainital has earned the epithet of ‘Lake District' of India. The most prominent of the lakes is Naini lake ringed by hills.
CHAMPAWAT DISTRICT
Champawat is the place of origin of culture and religion in Uttarakhand. Chand rulers built lots of temples and ancient monuments in their ancient capital i.e Champawat.
BAGESHWAR DISTRICT
Bageshwar is situated at the confluence of rivers Saryu, Gomti and latent Bhagirathi; its also revered as the pious land associated with Lord Sadashiva. This land of Lord Shankar is of great religious, historic and political significance.
PITHORAGARH DISTRICT

GARHWAL DIVISION
Garhwal is bounded on the north by Tibet, on the east by Kumaon region, on the south by Uttar Pradesh state, and on the north-west by Himachal Pradesh state. Garhwal is one of the two divisions of Uttarakhand state and its headquarter is located at Pauri. Garhwal Division consists of seven districts.
DEHRADUN DISTRICT
Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand is 240 KMs from Delhi. Its nestled in Doon Valley and at the foothills of the Himalayas, Dehradun is surrounded by high mountains and Sal forests. Its known for its pleasant year-round weather and scenic surroundings.
HARIDWAR DISTRICT
Haridwar is one of the first towns where Ganga emerges from the mountains to touch the planes. It is also a point of entry to Dev Bhoomi and Char Dham. Haridwar is also one of the four places; where Kumbh Mela occurs after rotation of every twelve years and Ardh Kumbh after every six years.
UTTARKASHI DISTRICT
The district is named after its headquarters town Uttarkashi, an ancient place with rich cultural heritage and as the name suggests is the Kashi of North. The terrain and climate of Uttarkashi district provide uncongenial physical environment for human settlement.
PAURI
The climate of Pauri Garhwal is mostly pleasant in summer and cold in winter.
CHAMOLI
Chamoli hosts a variety of destinations of pilgrim and tourist interest. Chamoli also happened to be a birthplace of “Chipko Movement”.
RUDRAPRAYAG
Rudraprayag lies at the confluence of two rivers Alkananda & Mandakini. Its blessed with nature’s bounty, the climate of which depends upon the height of the region.
TEHRI GARHWAL
Lying on the southern slopes of mid Himalayas, Tehri Garhwal is on of the sacred hilly districts of Uttarakhand State.
